A DAY IN WHITSTABLE | UK |
Finally the first Sunday spent at the British seaside, thanks to the lovely summery weather. As you can see from the pictures it doesn’t even seems to be in England. The beach isn’t sandy so be prepared with proper shoes since you will walk on a pebbled and muddy ground. Of course don’t even think about going for a dip, I saw just only one girl swimming that day….brave English people! But for sure it’s a lovely place to spend a relaxing day sunbathing or just chilling out.
What can I say then about the houses, they were just amazing! Seriously! Wooden, compact, little houses, most of them with a fronyard that gives onto the sea. Small outdoor spaces filled with simple, pastel coloured benches, all sourrounded by palms and flowers, I mean do you still think this is England!?
If you walk along the shore you will find these colourfull terraced-houses, come on how cute are they!? I would love to have a coffee and read a book on one of those balcony with a view (can you spot the lady who’s doing so?).
Lastly, Whitstable is known for its oysters. You will be sourrounded by pubs and little outdoor shops that sell them. Don’t hesitate and enjoy them with other sea-food such as mussels, crabs, prawns…
But certainly you can’t go away without trying the best English ice-cream I’ve tasted so far (and as italian I know what I’m talking about). The shop is called Sundae Suandae, you’ll easily spot it by the queue outside and do it because it’s really worth it!
